Forget lazy summer days. At GAD Youth Center, kids ages 11 to 16 are spending their break becoming leaders. Over the past four weeks, the 2026 Summer Workshop Series has handed youth real-world skills that stick: writing résumés, performing CPR, building charcuterie boards, mastering money, launching business ideas, and mapping their dreams on vision boards. They even walked the campus at Virginia State University and dined in a college dining hall, getting a taste of the future within reach. Led by professionals donating their time and passion, every workshop proves that learning does not stop when the school bell rings, it happens through mentorship, friendship, and the kind of experiences that change what a kid believes is possible.
