Dr. Cheri Maea serves as the Dean of Early College and High School Partnerships at Laurel Ridge Community College, where she provides strategic leadership for dual enrollment, early college pathways, and K–12 partnerships across the college’s service region. In this role, she leads initiatives that expand access to college credentials for high school students, strengthen transfer and workforce pathways, and align programming with regional workforce and economic needs. She also serves as Chair of the Virginia Community College System Council of Deans and Directors, representing academic leadership across the Commonwealth.

Dr. Maea is a passionate advocate for community college education and its transformative impact on students, families, and communities. Her work focuses on increasing access, improving student outcomes, and building innovative partnerships that support seamless transitions from high school to college and career. Her commitment to service began with her honorable tenure in the United States Army and continued through her years as a military spouse. Following her military service, she pursued higher education with determination, earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business, a professional accounting certificate, an Education Specialist degree, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership.

Dr. Maea is deeply engaged in her community and Rotary service. She has served in numerous leadership roles within Rotary District 7610, including District Treasurer, Assistant Governor, and District Grants Subcommittee Chair. She is a member of the Stafford Rotary Club and a past president of the North Stafford Rotary Club. In addition, she serves as Chair of the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee for Stafford County Public Schools, supporting the development of high-quality career pathways for students. Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, Dr. Maea is a proud mother of four and grandmother of one. She enjoys painting and reading in her free time.
