Kilwins is Opening in Downtown Fredericksburg Today!
Sisters Jenna Bowen and Sandra Duff are officially opening the doors to Kilwins Fredericksburg this morning at 721 Caroline Street, and as someone with a serious sweet tooth, I can’t wait to get there. We are talking hand-crafted chocolates, hand-paddled fudge made on a marble table, caramel cooking in a copper kettle, and premium ice cream made right in front of you. And then there is the chocolate-on-the-inside waffle cone machine. I did not even know that was a thing until now and I am already obsessed. Go say hello to Jenna and Sandra and someone please report back if the waffle cone is as good as it sounds!
Find them at 721 Caroline Street in Downtown Fredericksburg.

Stafford Says Not So Fast to Austin Ridge Market Development
Big names like Aldi, Sheetz, Texas Roadhouse, and Flagship Carwash could be coming to central Stafford, but neighbors aren't quite sold yet. The Stafford Planning Commission voted 6-0 to pump the brakes on the Market at Austin Ridge, a 25-acre mixed-use development planned for Courthouse Road. The developer dropped a data center from the proposal just two days before the hearing, but that wasn't enough to calm concerns. More than two dozen residents showed up to speak last week, and most weren't happy about the light industrial zoning still attached to the project. The commission deferred its decision, so this one is still a work in progress.
Good News for Stafford: A New ER Could Be Coming to U.S. 17
While the Austin Ridge Market decision got kicked down the road, the Planning Commission had some good news to share last week. Commissioners voted 6-0 to recommend approval of a freestanding emergency room on U.S. 17, run in partnership with Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Think of it like the stand-alone ER already serving folks on Route 3 in Spotsylvania, but now coming to Stafford. The project would bring 44 permanent jobs and an estimated $400,000 to $500,000 in annual tax revenue to the county. The Board of Supervisors still has the final say, but this one is off to a great start.

This Veteran-Owned Brewery in Fredericksburg Deserves a Spot on Your List
6 Bears & A Goat Brewing Co. is one of those places that gets everything right. Built by veterans with over 140 years of combined service between them, this Fredericksburg brewery runs on patriotism, service, and community and you can feel it from the moment you walk in. The knot-chos made with homemade beer cheese are incredible, the blonde ale Mae West is really good, and the customer care is next level. When a member of our group mentioned a serious allergy, the chef personally came out to the table to walk through every ingredient. That right there says everything about what this place stands for. 1140 International Pkwy, Fredericksburg
