Before You Go
Bring proof of service. Common options include a military ID, a VA ID card, your DD-214 or a Virginia driver's license with the veteran designation. Each business sets its own rules, so ask if you're not sure.
Call ahead. Each franchise decides whether to take part, and menus and hours can vary by location.
Plan around the lunch rush. Many offers are dine-in only, and restaurants fill up fast on Nov. 11. Going early or midafternoon can mean a shorter wait.
Tip on the full meal. Free meals usually don't include drinks or tip, and your server will be busy all day.
Check who qualifies. Most offers are for veterans and active-duty service members. A few, like Starbucks, Wawa and Kohl's, also include spouses or family members.

How This Guide Is Put Together
We checked each chain offer against the Veterans Day lists published in early November 2026 by VA News, Military.com and Stars and Stripes, and we only included chains with locations in the Fredericksburg area. Local offers come from each business's own announcement. Event details come from the City of Fredericksburg, Patch and the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Offers can change and vary by location, so confirm with the business before you go. No business paid to be included.
