This October, Sheehy Subaru Fredericksburg and the Fredericksburg SPCA are joining forces to bring pets and people together. In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and the brand’s “Subaru Loves Pets” campaign, they’re hosting a Pet Adoption Day on Saturday, October 11 from 12–4 p.m. at the Fredericksburg SPCA (10819 Courthouse Rd.).

During the event, adoption fees will be waived for approved adopters, but standard SPCA adoption policies still apply. Even if you’re not ready to adopt, you’re invited to stop by, meet adoptable dogs and cats, enjoy puppy cuddles, and learn more about fostering or volunteering. On-site SPCA adoption counselors will guide visitors through matches and pet care questions.

DJ Bruce, general manager of Sheehy Subaru Fredericksburg, emphasizes their commitment to the community: this event is more than just adoptions. It’s about building connections, inspiring volunteering, and living the Subaru mission of caring for pets and people in our own backyard.

If you’re thinking of bringing a furry friend home, here’s what to bring:

  • Valid photo ID

  • Landlord/pet policy info (for renters)

  • Patience (adoption staff will help with all the details)

This event is free and open to all, making it a great opportunity for families, pet lovers, or anyone curious. Mark your calendar, bring your love for animals, and help give these pets the loving homes they deserve.
