Sunshine, Sunflowers, and a Whole Lot of Berries: Braehead Farm Is Having a Moment

If summer had a headquarters in Fredericksburg, it would be Braehead Farm right about now. The last working farm inside the historic city is spilling over with sunflowers, blackberries and blueberries ready to pick, and a market piled high with tomatoes, watermelon, and honey-loups. Wander the pick-your-own fields for free and pay only for what you gather, grab a slice of pie from the Bakery, then turn the kids loose in the Family Playgrounds out back with the animals and hay barns for $6 a head. It's the kind of slow, sun-soaked afternoon that makes you forget your phone is in your pocket.

Open daily 9am to 6pm at 1130 Tyler Street. Grab a basket and go at braeheadfarm.com. Just check in with the market first, because the fields change by the week.

It starts tomorrow. 🎡

The Fredericksburg Fair has been doing this since 1738, which means it was throwing parties before the country had a name. Nearly three centuries later, it still knows how to fill a summer night: demolition derbies, camel rides, chainsaw art, pageants, and yes, a comedy hypnotist.

Every evening brings something different, from line dancing to family karaoke to a tractor pull on the final Saturday, with Elvis sending everyone home on August 2nd. Watch for the appreciation nights with free admission for students, educators, military, and first responders, plus $7 tickets on Lucky 7's Thursday.

Virginia Is Climbing Again, and That's Good News for Every Business Owner Here at Home

Virginia just landed the No. 3 spot on CNBC's annual Top States for Business list, up one place from last year and climbing again after slipping out of the top three in 2025. The commonwealth earned high marks for infrastructure, technology, and quality of life, all things that matter when you're building something from the ground up. For those of us growing businesses in the Fredericksburg region, that's more than a headline. The talent, the connections, and the opportunity are already here. What we do with them is up to us.
