Nestled in the lively Hurkamp Park at the intersection of William and Prince Edward Streets, this is one of the area's most beloved Saturday traditions. The market runs nearly year-round, shifting indoors to the Dorothy Hart Community Center during the quiet winter months. With roughly 30 vendors on any given Saturday, shoppers find a curated mix of homegrown, homemade, and hand-baked goods. It's a genuine open-air market — no factory farm products or resellers allowed.
What truly sets this market apart is its robust community calendar. A Summer Midweek Market on Wednesdays brings vendors downtown mid-week for those who can't make Saturdays. The market also hosts Art in the Park (local artists and crafters, 1st–4th Saturdays from May to October), a Kids' Market (May 30 and December 12) for young entrepreneurs aged 8–15, and seasonal celebrations including a Halloween at the Market, Mistletoe Market, and a Fourth of July event. Live musicians perform on select Saturdays and Wednesday evenings.
The market participates in Virginia Fresh Match, a SNAP incentive program that doubles the purchasing power of SNAP/EBT benefits — shoppers can receive up to $30 in free fruits and vegetables per visit by visiting the Market Token Tent. This partnership reflects a deep commitment to making fresh, local food accessible to all.

Celebrating more than 25 years of community service, the Spotsylvania Farmers Market has grown into one of the largest farmers' markets in the entire region. In 2026, it expanded to three locations and three different days of the week, which gives shoppers more opportunities than ever to buy direct from local producers. The flagship Saturday market at the Route 3/Gordon Road VDOT Commuter Lot remains the cornerstone, with over 40 vendors and a sprawling footprint that one local reviewer described as stretching roughly the length of a football field and booths running down both sides.
The Wednesday market has moved to a new, more community-centered home in the Spotsylvania Courthouse area on Old Battlefield Boulevard — a quieter, afternoon-friendly option for weekday shoppers. The brand-new Sunday Market at Spotsylvania High School launches April 12, 2026, and will run through the season with a 6-hour window, the longest of the three markets.
The market is coordinated by Spotsylvania County's Economic Development office and accepts Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and SNAP/EBT — reflecting its mission to serve the broadest possible community. It is a proud member of both the Farmers Market Coalition and the Virginia Farmers Market Association (VAFMA). Vendors range from farms and nurseries to bakeries, seafood and meat providers, cheese makers, and specialty food producers.

Long Family Markets is one of the most distinctive and fastest-growing market operations in the region. Originally, the North Stafford Farmers Market launched in 2013. It was acquired in 2015 by Robin Long — a former market vendor herself — and her family's company, Long & Long LLC. Under her leadership, the market grew from roughly 15 participating businesses to an average of 80 local micro-businesses attending each Sunday, making it a remarkable incubator for small entrepreneurship in Stafford County.

What sets Long Family Markets apart most clearly is its strict producer-only policy: every vendor must make, bake, raise, or grow what they sell. No resellers, no middlemen. The market is also proudly veteran-owned and has repeatedly won Inside NoVA's Best of Stafford survey in categories including Best Local Attraction, Most Community Involved, Best in Customer Service, and Best Community Event.
The market has a genuinely playful, family-centered culture. The beloved Mr. Cluck Cluck — a masked fabric chicken hidden somewhere in the market each Sunday — keeps children occupied as their parents shop. Kids who find him visit the information tent and earn a dollar to spend at the market. Other family programs include Adopt-a-Pollinator, the Market Meal Challenge, and a monthly farm animal petting zoo. Nutrition-focused cooking demonstrations and rotating community organizations round out the experience.
The MidWeek Market location is yet to be determined* for the upcoming summer season, but the Long family hopes that it will continue to feature live music, food trucks, and artisan showcases alongside the core vendor lineup and continue the tradition of being one of the most evening-friendly market experiences in the region.
