Hey neighbors!

This week in the 'Burg is a lot to take in and I am here for all of it. We are still riding the high from Sunday's Power Players: In Full Bloom event and I cannot wait to share a recap with you. But first, there is a food truck story in this newsletter that genuinely made me proud to live in this community.

Here is what is inside today:

  • The Power Players: In Full Bloom recap and what it meant for the women in that room

  • Fire Escape Crazy Burgers is donating 100% of tomorrow night's proceeds to Hit the Spot Kitchen and yes, they are competitors

  • UVA vs. Maryland is happening at Virginia Credit Union Stadium tonight

  • Mac and Cheese Festival is this Saturday at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds

  • A four course wine dinner at City Vino this Thursday

  • Golden eggs are hiding across Fredericksburg and Stafford starting March 31st

  • The Dinner Club is back with April dates

  • A live workshop on how hiring actually works on April 7th

Let's get into it!

A Local Food Truck Is Donating 100% of Tomorrow's Proceeds to a Competitor. Let That Sink In. 🧔

Fire Escape Crazy Burgers did not have to do this. They are a food truck. Hit the Spot Kitchen is a food truck. In any other world, they are competitors. But in Fredericksburg, apparently that is not how we do things.

Fire Escape Crazy Burgers, already known for regularly donating a percentage of their sales to local firehouses, is showing up for Maria and Will at Hit the Spot Kitchen in the most generous way possible. Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25th from 5 to 7PM at Highmark Brewery, every single dollar Fire Escape makes goes directly to Hit the Spot Kitchen, a business that is fighting to save their food truck by a March 31st deadline.

This is what community actually looks like. Not just the warm fuzzy version. The real version, where someone who could have looked the other way chose to show up instead.

Come out tomorrow. Grab a burger. And remind yourself why you love living here. šŸ’›

The First Ever Power Players: In Full Bloom Brought Together 100+ Women Entrepreneurs and We Are Still Smiling 🌸

This past Sunday, over 100 women business owners from Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania filled the room at Eden Try Winery for Power Players: In Full Bloom. These are the women who are quietly building businesses, showing up for their communities, and doing extraordinary things without always asking for recognition. For one morning, we got to change that. They connected, they celebrated, they picked flowers, they sipped mimosas, and they looked around a room full of women just like them and felt seen. Every single one of them is now a founding member of the very first Women-Owned Business Directory for the Fredericksburg area. And this is just the beginning. 🌸

UVA and Maryland Are Settling It Right Here in Fredericksburg Tonight ⚾

The Collegiate Clash is back and it is happening right here in our own backyard tonight. Virginia Credit Union Stadium is hosting UVA versus Maryland for the second consecutive year, renewing an old ACC rivalry that Fredericksburg gets to claim as its own. Gates open at 4:30PM with first pitch at 5:35PM. UVA comes in as the home team and the Terrapins as the visitors. It is a Tuesday night in Fredericksburg and there is no better place to be.

A Local Recruiter Is About to Tell You Everything the Job Market Has Been Keeping From You šŸ‘€

Most job seekers are doing it backwards. Spending hours on applications and tweaking resumes while hiring managers make their decision in the first six seconds. On April 7th from 9AM to 11:30AM, Kirstin Purcell, recruiter and founder of Handshake in Heels, is pulling back the curtain on how hiring actually works at a live workshop in Fredericksburg. This is not generic career advice. This is insider knowledge from someone who has been on the other side of the table for years. Seating is extremely limited with only 5 VIP spots and 15 General Admission tickets available.
