🌴 Yes, You Can Visit Kalahari Without Booking a Room
You already know the giant Kalahari resort opens in Spotsylvania on November 12. Here is the update worth knowing: you will not have to book an overnight stay to enjoy it.
Kalahari has confirmed it will offer day passes, a waterpark-only pass, an adventure-park-only pass, and a combo pass for both, along with short-term membership options for families who plan to go more than once. There will also be validated parking when you come just to dine.
That is a big deal for those of us who live minutes away. It means a weekend at Virginia's largest indoor waterpark, more than 175,000 square feet with over 50 slides, can be a day trip rather than a full getaway.
The one thing still missing: pricing and the on-sale date for day passes have not been announced yet. We are watching for it and will share the details the moment they drop. If you want to be first to know, you can sign up for alerts on the resort's Parks and Passes page at kalahariresorts.com/virginia.
A Baseball & Softball Academy Is Coming to Stafford
Good news for local ballplayers. D-BAT Baseball & Softball Academy is coming to The Shops at England Run, taking over 8,450 square feet at 736 Warrenton Road, right beside Goodwill's new store.
Brothers Cade and Kyle Griffis started D-BAT back in 1998, and it has since grown into one of the biggest names in baseball and softball training in the country. Their academies are built around indoor, climate-controlled space, which means rainy Saturdays and freezing January afternoons no longer cancel practice.
Here's what to expect:
Indoor batting cages, open year-round no matter the weather
Private lessons and instruction for all skill levels
Developmental camps and training programs
A pro shop stocked with bats, gloves, and gear

For local families juggling travel teams, weekend tournaments, and the constant hunt for practice time, having a year-round training spot this close to home is a real win.
An opening date has not been announced yet. You can learn more at dbatfredericksburg.com.
